What We Believe

Every family, every property, and every project deserves its own thoughtful response. We don't believe in repeating solutions. We believe the most memorable homes are the ones that could only exist exactly where they are.

JACQUELINE DOWNS
FOUNDER / PRINCIPAL DESIGNER
Design has always been part of Jacqueline's life.
Growing up in a family deeply rooted in the furniture industry, she developed an early appreciation for craftsmanship, proportion, and the way thoughtfully designed environments influence how people feel. Her passion for design deepened while accompanying her stepmother, an interior designer, to client meetings, installations, and project presentations, where she saw firsthand how meaningful the profession could be.
Jacqueline earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from The Art Institute of Atlanta before beginning her career at Gresham Smith, collaborating with architects and engineers on large-scale aviation projects. Those years established the technical rigor and collaborative mindset that continue to define the studio today.
She founded JDID with a simple belief: extraordinary homes are never accidental. They are the result of asking better questions, challenging assumptions, and carefully considering how architecture and interiors can work together as one complete vision. She leads every project with that philosophy, creating homes that feel timeless because every decision has been made with purpose.
EMILY FARRELL
Emily and Jacqueline have worked together since first meeting at Gresham Smith in 2007. After continuing her career with BECK, Emily joined JDID to help build a residential design practice grounded in the same level of technical excellence and collaboration.
As a licensed interior designer, Emily leads the technical development of every project, overseeing construction documentation, three-dimensional modeling, and the countless details required to transform ambitious ideas into beautifully executed homes. Her expertise ensures every design decision is thoughtfully coordinated long before construction begins.
